Coke Zero has launched in Brazil an extreme guerrilla marketing campaign using people’s tongues. Trendhunter reports that several shops in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre and Salvador give free piercings with the brand logo, with the only condition of taking pictures to publish on the website which redirects to a Google Picasa Album set. It would seem that the promise is that the brand can do your talking for you while you can’t.

Love the title! This sounds just like the deal Dunlop tires had recently here in the states. They gave anyone a free set of Dunlop tires for their car if they would agree to get a tattoo of the Dunlop logo. It was wildly popular, and some were coming up just to get a free tattoo and didn’t realize they got free tires as well.
Comment by Mack Collier March 5, 2008 @ 2:07 amWhere I come from, we also have a whole bunch of Coke Zero ads coming out. But the ads are just ads and nothing as extreme as tongue-piercing. I guess it shows what each country is ready for. We are a bit on the conservative side. But the comparison is pretty interesting.
Comment by Julie, writer Surefirewealth.com March 5, 2008 @ 3:58 amGreat first comment. I don’t know enough about Brazil or inclination about piercing to have an opinion but I have met people who paid for their tattoos and regretted it later. That said mine are all fine and I’m curious when the next will be inspired and if it will be done in China.
